12 Days of Christmas...Day 12

Happy Monday Friends! Today is the 12th and final day of Melissa's and Mishie's 12 Days of Christmas countdown. Just in time for us to share one more post and then take some time to relax and focus on the holiday with our families. Thanks for joining us today!
As Christmas draws near, most of us are (hopefully) winding down our Christmas cards and holiday packaging. But there's always one way that I like to end my holiday crafting.....and that is with Christmas thank you notes. So our theme for today is thank you cards. I always insist on the reds writing a hand written note to at least the grandparents for Christmas gifts received.

Today I have some fun shaped pocket cards to share with you. You start out with a 6" x 6" piece of double sided patterned paper. I'm using papers and stickers from The Girls Paperie. Fold the square in half and then fold down 1" to create a flap. Stitch all in place to form a pocket.
I used lots of The Girls Paperie stickers to embellish the front of the pocket card. The scallops were die cut from Papertrery's Large Scalloped Border Die.
Wrinkle Ribbon is from my Etsy shop. The half circle tabs were created with the Mini Scrapbook Series: Tabs stamp set and coordinating Mini Tab die.
Recipe Cards from Papertrey Ink were perfect for the card inserts so that we could have lines to write on. I cut them down to fit into the pocket cards, then added a swipe of the Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo around the edges. Glitter finishes off the top of the insert. I made two inserts for each pocket.....one for the girls to write their messages and one for Eric and I to write our thank you notes.
These cards fit perfectly into plain ol' business envelopes....the smaller size. Whew, one more item crossed of my list. So don't forget to create a few thank you's before you put away that holiday paper. Enjoy!
For my recipe today, I'm sharing some tasty Ham & Swiss Sliders. A perfect sandwich to take to parties or to just fix when all the festivities are over and you're hanging out at home. Looks mouth watering, doesn't it? The recipe is HERE.
(Recipe and Photo Courtesty of Taste the Joy)

And one last item before Melissa and I end our 12 Days of Christmas blogging event. We would like to offer a thank you gift for visiting our blogs during this joyous season. I am offering up this little bundle of goodies from my Etsy shop....perfect for upcoming Valentine projects. Enjoy!

To be entered for my prize drawing, enter a comment at the end of this post telling me what one of your favorite projects was from my blog this year. Be sure to leave your name too. To be entered twice for the drawing, post a link to my blog post today on your blog and paste that direct link along with your comment right back here. Your package will be dolled up all super cute like! Thanks for playing along and Happy Holidays everyone!! Prize drawing winner will be announced sometime tomorrow. Be sure to check Melissa's blog for her post today....and she's also giving away an adorable prize. :)

Mish--I'm sad to see "The 12 Days of Christmas" posts that you and Melissa have done come to an end. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every post and project that both of you have featured, and I've taken many ideas from your projects. I don't have just one post or idea that was my favorite--my favorite part of your series was the double pleasure of having not only projects to look at, but also recipes to drool over. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your incredible talent with us. Have a very Merry Christmas!

So sad to see the 12 days of Melissa & Mish's Christmas is over :( ... thanks for all the fab inspiration and mouth watering recipes! My fave post this year was when you did the holiday planners with the long notepads... I had just ordered the Take Note set so made them as gifts and they were a big hit! All the best in 2011 and looking forward to more inspiring posts!! Cheers, Robin

For sure my favorite would be today. Teaching our children to be gracious and thankful is so so important. Thank you cards have become a thing of the past...my children tell me that. Guess what...they get to write them anyway. :) I know they will thank me some day (maybe even with a card). Great job!

I loved them all but my fave was probably the last one the thank you notes. Mostly because I feel people don't write them anymore. My mom raised me to always send a thank you and to this day I still do.

My favorite day was Day 9 with all the great tags. I loved seeing how you layer all the different patterned paper to make them look so effortless. Wish I could do the same, but mine usually looks like I just stuck stuff from my trash can onto a tag. I guess that's why you are the pro and I definitely am...not! These 12 days have been such fun and I really looked forward to them.

Oh I love everything you do and a chance to win something you've designed would be fabulous! My favorite thing you design is your notebooks - I lOVE THEM - especially your post on 10/11/10 for the Holiday Planner!!

Then I finished reading your sentence and, rather than thinking, I KNEW you're crazy. One favorite for the year - how to narrow it down? But, guess what? I did. One favorite is The 12 Days of Me project. I bought a kit and am giving it to my brother for Christmas. I also 'borrowed' the idea for three other people who I believe need to be told it is okay to take some time for themselves. I actually gave one to a friend last week. She was so touched and grateful to be given permission to be selfish for a few hours each month. She is actually going to consider it The 12 Days of Us and share it with her husband so that they can get some time together, a rarity for them. Thank you for making this possible for them (and for making me look so good).

Thanks for sharing the 12 days of Christmas. I've looked forward to each post, just as I have all year. Merry Christmas, Mish. Enjoy this special time of the year with your family.

What a lovely valentine set! I discovered your blog during the 12 days of Christmas and my favorite project was the gift wrap with the doilies...

I love your work. I loved the Brown Paper Sack Double Pocket Pretties idea. So cute, I love all things "paper sack". A decorated brown bag always looks rustic to me and I love that look. I am going to try out that Ham & Cheese Slider tomorrow with the family, it makes me hungry looking at it right now!! Merry Christmas and a wonderful, creative New Year.

Oh Michelle,

That's not a fair thing to ask us to do. Have to say that each and every one of your posts have been a delight to read. I tried and tried to pick just one but I can't, wait a minute, I love candy canes (maybe cos they are in short supply over here) so maybe your posts featuring them might have a little bit of a jump over the others. Only a smidge mind you!

Thanks for sharing with us and letting us see your world. Have a Happy Christmas :)

I visit your blog everyday-love all of the inspiration. My favorites have been when you post your projects about your vintage finds. Last month I mentioned to my aunt and showed her your blog when you posted some pics of your vintage jello molds. This weekend for Christmas she gave me some!! I have been in heaven! Thanks for the 12 Days ideas - I"ve loved them all.

Good morning Mish. For my choices for all-time favorites from these 12 days of Christmas are: notebooks for the permanent markers from Day 10, holiday planner from Day 1, and the tags on brown paper sacks from Day 5. Recipes are a bit trickier to narrow down, but the first one I plan on trying is Big League brownies. Thanks for sharing your marvelousness!

My favorite project(s) is always the notebooks. I am a huge fan! I have made a few myself, but none compare!! I read your blog every day and look forward to seeing what you've created for the day!! Thanks!

I love all you posts. You have a wonderful ability to use so many papers and embellishments on one project without it seeming busy or childish -- it has perfect balance. On Sept. 14th you made a card using tags and tickets and OA papers and wrinkle ribbon and fillabale frames. I could not stop looking at that card for weeks. Thank you for all the wonderful inspiration and ideas. Happy Holidays!

I must agree with everyone else who listed the 12 days of Christmas as the favorite. I love all Christmas projects but you add such a antique flair to your projects; a 'old Christmas' feel to them. Thanx for all the inspiration.

(I have NO idea if you will see this comment, but *I* wanted to write it!) Mish, thank you SO much for this idea! I wrote you a thank you in my blog post here tonight http://kristinshappy.blogspot.com/2011/01/thank-you-notes.html
(and of course, gave you credit!!)... what you don't realize is how special it is to me now to send my kid's handwriting to my dad and stepmom and my dh's parents. I lost my mom (who I had cared for in our home for the last 5 years) in October. She LOVED things like this. To see their handwriting. She was a kinder teacher for 30 yrs. It just touched something in me and made me know I could give some of what she loved of her grandchildren to the grandparents that have never lived in our home. Thank you!!
